In Memoriam: Herbert Milstein

It is with the utmost sadness that Cohen Milstein recognizes the passing of one of its founding partners and leaders, Herbert Milstein, who was with the Firm from 1970 until his retirement in 2012. Herb was known for his excellent lawyering but, just as importantly, his warmth, friendship, mentorship and outstanding character. While Herb was a tenacious litigator, his zealous advocacy never detracted from his sense of humanity.

Besides litigating cases at the Firm, Herb was an adjunct Professor of Law at Georgetown University Law Center from 1980-1987, and also taught complex litigation and lectured on securities and class actions at law schools and seminars sponsored by the American Bar Association, state bar associations, and continuing legal education organizations. Prior to joining the Firm, Herb served on the staff of the Securities and Exchange Commission and last held the position of Chief Enforcement Attorney, Division of Corporate Regulation. Herb graduated from Harvard College (cum laude, 1958) and Columbia University School of Law (LL.B., 1961).
