Christine E. Webber, a partner in Cohen Milstein’s Civil Rights & Employment practice, has been invited to speak at the 2021 Annual Conference of the Metropolitan Washington Employment Lawyers Association (MWELA) on March 5, 2021.

Ms. Webber will present a “Review of 2020 Supreme Court Employment Decisions.”

MWELA, an affiliate of the National Employment Lawyers Association, serves as a forum for communication and collegial support among employment attorneys who represent employees. Its Annual Conference features attorneys, judges, and outside experts speaking on topics concerning all aspects of plaintiff-side practice.

Brian Corman, an Associate in Cohen Milstein’s Civil Rights & Employment practice, has been invited to speak at the 2021 Annual Conference of the Metropolitan Washington Employment Lawyers Association (MWELA) on March 4, 2021.

Mr. Corman will speak on the panel “Lessons from Advocacy in the Time of COVID: Depositions, Mediations, Arbitrations, Remote & In-Person Trials and a View from the Bench.”

On Friday, February 26, 2021, Cohen Milstein partner Laura H. Posner, a member of the firm’s Securities Litigation & Investor Protection and Ethics & Fiduciary Counseling practice groups, will take part in the New York City Bar’s 9th Annual Securities Litigation & Enforcement Institute. The full-day CLE program, held this year as a webcast, brings together prominent experts to discuss current issues, trends and developments in securities litigation, regulation, and enforcement.

As chair of the Bar’s Securities Litigation Committee, Ms. Posner will co-host the event and participate in the “Securities Litigation” panel discussion.

Agnieszka Fryszman, chair of Cohen Milstein’s Human Rights practice group has been invited to Speak at the “International Human Rights and Corporate Accountability: Current and Future Challenges” symposium hosted by UCLA Law’s Promise Institute for Human Rights, the Journal of International Law and Foreign Affairs, and the Corporate Accountability Lab on February 26 – 27, 2021.

Ms. Fryszman’s panel, “Corporate Liability for International and Transnational Crimes” will address recent and ongoing cases regarding criminal activity that is aided and abetted from abroad by corporations. In particular, the panel will discuss recent transmissions to the ICC regarding war crimes; aiding and abetting jurisprudence in various legal systems around the world; the transnational laws around human trafficking; and holding corporations accountable civilly for funding paramilitary groups.

This panel is approved for 1.25 hours of general MCLE credit.

Leslie M. Kroeger, Co-Chair of Cohen Milstein’s Complex Tort Litigation practice, has been invited to speak on Florida Justice Association’s 2021 Workhorse Seminar hosted via Zoom on Wednesday, February 24, 2021.

Ms. Kroeger will present on “The Art and Science of Defending Your Expert from a Daubert Attack.”

The FJA, formerly the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers (AFTL), is dedicated to strengthening and upholding Florida’s civil justice system and protecting the rights of Florida’s citizens and consumers. Ms. Kroeger is the Immediate Past President for FJA.

Sharon K. Robertson, a partner in Cohen Milstein’s Antitrust practice, has been invited to speak at the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) Antitrust Law Section Annual Meeting on January 25, 2021. Ms. Robertson will speak on the panel “Developments in Cartel Enforcement and Practice,” discussing:

The state of U.S. and EU cartel enforcement;
Leniency developments;
Cross-border coordination among cartel enforcers; and
Anticipated litigation and enforcement trends.

The 2021 Annual Meeting, a virtual event, will feature two days of CLE and networking opportunities beginning Friday, January 22.

Donna M. Evans, Of Counsel in Cohen Milstein’s Antitrust practice will speak at ThirdPath Institute’s “Boston: Pioneering Leaders Virtual Tour” on January 21, 2021.

Ms. Evans will address current issues of integrating work and personal life to achieve balance and success. ThirdPath Institute is dedicated to helping redesign work to create time for family, community and other life priorities and developing communities of individuals, leaders and organizations to influence wider change to support personal and work goals – both within organizations and at the public policy level. Evans was invited to participate based upon her involvement in these issues over nearly three decades, which began with her work on a groundbreaking report for the Boston Bar Association. The virtual tour includes “stops” in Boston, Denver, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.

Sharon K. Robertson, a partner in Cohen Milstein’s Antitrust practice, has been invited to speak at the Duke Law School Bolch Judicial Institute’s Mass-Tort MDL Certificate Program, being held via webcast on November 9, 2020.

The 2020 program will feature courses taught by experienced MDL judges, preeminent lead counsel, and MDL committee chairs, and it will offer unparalleled access to the leaders in the MDL world. The program is designed for both plaintiff and defense lawyers looking to transition into the tort and consumer mass-tort field who would like to enhance their ability to compete for MDL committee appointments, and for those more experienced attorneys focused on refining their skills in the field.

Cohen Milstein’s Takisha D. Richardson, a member of the firm’s Sexual Abuse, Sex Trafficking and Domestic Violence team, has been invited to speak on Palm Beach County Justice Association‘s (PBCJA) “Achieving Justice for Sexual Assault Victims & Victims of Other Crimes” CLE webinar hosted via Zoom on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at 11 a.m.

Ms. Richardson will provide practical information on handling sexual abuse cases, tips in determining whether to accept a sexual abuse case, handling sex abuse clients, how the civil process can intersect with the criminal process, and ways civil lawyers can be an integral part of each stage.

The PBCJA is a countywide organization of more than 450 trial attorneys and paralegals in Palm Beach County. The organization provides resources, education, networking events and more for plaintiff trial attorneys, paralegals and their clients. Ms. Richardson serves on the Board of Directors for the PBCJA.

Takisha D. Richardson, a member of the firm’s Sexual Abuse and Sex Trafficking team, has been invited to speak at the Florida Justice Association’s 2020 Annual Convention Webinar on Thursday, June 25, 2020.

Ms. Richardson will present on the topic “Victim Behavior After Sexual Assault, and Why it’s Actually Great Evidence in Your Sexual Abuse Case” during the Advanced Trial Skills segment of the convention.
