Even though Visa and Mastercard have paid out billions to escape litigation accusing them of plaguing merchants with predatory “swipe fees,” the credit titans have not stopped inflating the fees businesses pay every time someone swipes their card, a new lawsuit alleges.
A San Diego pizza restaurant called The Pizza Standard filed the proposed class action Thursday in New York federal court, alleging that Visa, Mastercard and the nation’s largest banks have been conspiring to keep interchange and network fees high in violation of federal antitrust laws.
