Community Partners of South Florida announced that its Safe Kids Palm Beach County program will join forces with Cohen Milstein and the Village of Palm Springs Police and Fire Departments to host a free Child Passenger Safety Inspection Station on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

The local event marks National Seat Check Saturday, the annual culmination of Child Passenger Safety Week (September 20–26, 2026).

During the inspection, Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will offer hands-on education and one-on-one assistance to ensure parents and caregivers have the right car seat for their child’s age and size, installed correctly and used properly on every ride.

Car seats are proven lifesavers, reducing fatal injury risk by 71% for infants and 54% for toddlers aged 1 to 4. Yet according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, roughly 46% to 59% of car seats are installed or used incorrectly. Additionally, data shows that unbuckled drivers significantly increase the likelihood that child passengers will ride unrestrained as well.

“Seat Check Saturday is a national reminder for families to make sure their child’s car seat is installed, harnessed and used correctly for their age and size. Our local data shows children ages 6–11 experience trauma at a rate three times higher than ages 2–5, highlighting the importance of not transitioning out of a harness or booster too soon,” said Safe Kids Program Director Kathy Wall. “Thanks to Cohen Milstein, families in need will also have access to free car seats to help keep children safe on every ride.”

To help remove financial barriers for local parents, longtime supporter Cohen Milstein is once again sponsoring this year’s event. Cohen Milstein’s generous support will fund up to 70 car seats for Palm Beach County families in need, ensuring that safety remains accessible to all.
