Daniel Sommers, a partner in our Securities Litigation & Investor Protection practice, has been invited to speak at The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law on September 17, 2026 at 5:50 p.m.
Daniel will speak to the upper-level class, Class Action Securities Litigation, on Private Securities Litigation Reform Act (PSLRA) from the plaintiff’s perspective. Enacted more than 30 years ago in 1995, the PSLRA was created to curb perceived abuses in securities class actions. Today, it governs how such lawsuits can be litigated, including raising pleading standards, staying discovery, and defining who can lead them. While case quality and institutional investor participation has increased, the overall results might be arguably mixed.
Daniel will also discuss current rule changes at the Securities Exchange Commission and the impact on investor protections and the private enforcement of securities laws.
