The American Lawyer gave a “shout out” to Daniel Brockett, Steig Olson, and Sascha Rand of Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan and Michael Eisenkraft of Cohen Milstein Sellers & Toll. A federal magistrate judge in Manhattan late last month issued a ruling recommending class certification in an antitrust case they brought on behalf of investors who allege that major banks, including Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and JPMorgan, conspired to squelch competition in the domestic stock loan market. The report and recommendation from U.S. Magistrate Judge Sarah Cave now heads to U.S. District Judge Katherine Polk Failla for a final ruling on class cert — a potential huge deal in a suit alleging $5.5 billion in claims even before trebling.
