Lawsuit Alleges High-Profile Realtor Groomed and Repeatedly Molested a Child After Ingratiating Himself as a Father Figure

Victim Was 13 Years Old When Grooming Began

PALM BEACH COUNTY -- A lawsuit was filed Thursday against prominent Palm Beach County resident and luxury real estate agent Jack Elkins, detailing his shocking alleged sexual abuse of a minor whom he groomed over the course of two years while ingratiating himself as a father figure. Elkins is accused of child sexual abuse and battery for the violence perpetrated against the victim, who is also the plaintiff, in 2018. Elkins allegedly provided alcohol to the plaintiff and, once the plaintiff had passed out from intoxication, sexually assaulted him.

As a direct result of the abuse, the plaintiff suffers from severe physical and mental pain as well as psychological trauma.

“Mr. Elkins violated a young teen, robbing him of his childhood and completely shattering a family,” said the plaintiff’s attorney Michael Dolce, partner at Cohen Milstein Sellers & Toll and the leader of the firm’s Sexual Abuse, Sex Trafficking, and Domestic Abuse team.  “We intend to prove that Mr. Elkins groomed and abused a minor who was unable to consent to any sexual acts due to both his young age and intoxication.”

Elkins first made contact with the plaintiff by befriending his mother and positioning himself as a trusted, well-connected individual. He manipulated his relationship with the plaintiff’s mother, attended family events and celebrations, and became like a father to the plaintiff to gain unsupervised access to him.

Leading up to the assault, Elkins perpetuated a secretive, grooming relationship with the plaintiff that included installing an application on his phone so the two could send messages to each other that would be automatically deleted. He promised to purchase the plaintiff expensive gifts and took the plaintiff and his mother on lavish vacations. The grooming escalated to sexual abuse when, while on one such lavish vacation, Elkins provided the plaintiff with alcoholic beverages and, when the plaintiff passed out from intoxication, performed sexual acts on his body.
