Nicholas C. Johnson, an associate in Cohen Milstein’s Complex Tort Litigation practice group, was appointed to serve on the American Association for Justice (AAJ) Board of Governors.

During the 2019 Florida Just Association (FJA) Convention Board of Directors meeting on June 14, 2019 at The Breakers in Palm Beach, Mr. Johnson was appointed by FJA to serve on AAJ’s Board of Governors as the Minority State Delegate.

The AAJ Board of Governors is the governing body of the Association, charged under the AAJ Bylaws with establishing and approving Association policies, including the adoption of a three-year Association budget on an annual basis.

Mr. Johnson, a longtime member of AAJ, is involved in several AAJ committees, including the Minority Caucus, the Voter Protection Committee and the Public Education Committee. Mr. Johnson is also an alumnus of AAJ’s Leadership Academy (2016-2017).

The AAJ, formerly the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA), promotes justice and fairness for injured persons, safeguards victims' rights—particularly the right to trial by jury—and strengthens the civil justice system through education and disclosure of information critical to public health and safety.
