A defective brake recall has been issued for approximately 344,187 Honda Odyssey vehicles manufactured August 8, 2006 through September 8, 2008.  Certain 2007-2008 vehicles may contain a malfunction that causes the vehicle safety assist system to suddenly and unexpectedly apply the brakes without activating the warning brake lights.  Unintentional braking without a warning mechanism can significantly increase the likelihood of a rear end collision.

This recall schedule has not been set but interim notification will begin sometime in December 2013.  Owners may contact Honda directly at 1-800-999-1009 and reference safety recall no. JC5.  Additional details can also be found by referencing NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 13V500000.

Owners are encouraged to contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or go to www.safercar.gov with any questions or concerns surrounding these or any other recalls or safety campaigns.
