Cohen Milstein's Michael Dolce will present the topic “No Crystal Ball Required – Institutional Liability When the Unknown Child Sex Predator Strikes” at the Florida Justice Association's Advanced Trial Skills Seminar on Wednesday, June 14, 2017.
"Institutions that take our children into their care, from schools to daycare centers to sports leagues, have a duty to proactively guard against the known risk of child sex abuse. Too often, the risk of the unknown child sex predator – one with a clean criminal background -- is not adequately considered, if it is considered at all, resulting in grievous harm to a child that could have been avoided. As a lawyer, learn how to analyze liability in these cases based on what is known about how predators behave, steps institutions can take to render them “unfriendly” to predators, and frequent mistakes that leave children at risk. As a parent, grandparent or other loved one of a child, learn what to look for before entrusting your child to an institution." - Michael Dolce
