Kalpana Kotagal, a Partner in Cohen Milstein’s Civil Rights & Employment Law practice group, will speak on an esteemed panel, addressing “Gender Discrimination & The Law” at the Provincetown Film Society’s Second Annual Women’s Media Summit: April 5 – 7, 2018 in Provincetown, MA.

The panel also includes film writer and director Maria Giese, and Senior Staff Attorney of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) Women’s Rights Project, Gillian Thomas.

After this year of incredible scrutiny of the entertainment industry, this panel will review advances toward employment equality in Hollywood through litigation, legislation, and other strategies. Topics will include the status of the EEOC’s investigation of the studios, restructuring efforts underway in the TimesUp initiative, the new “Inclusion Rider,” the significance of “employee” versus “independent contractor” status, and the ways various stakeholders— including studios, networks, agencies, and unions, among others— control and influence employment.
