Kalpana Kotagal, a partner in Cohen Milstein’s Civil Rights & Employment practice, will moderate the South Asian Bar Association of Washington D.C.’s Book Club Event, entitled “An Evening with South Asian Actor and Author Maulik Pancholy.”

Ms. Kotagal, who wrote the inclusion rider – a contractual provision designed to strengthen diversity and hiring practices in Hollywood – that Frances McDormand spoke about in her 2018 Oscars acceptance speech, will moderate a Q&A with actor and author Maulik Pancholy, who will discuss his debut novel, “The Best at It.” The novel is about a gay South Asian American boy coming into his own and navigating the world as a first generation American and confronting issues, such as: bullying, fear of rejection, relationships with family members, friendship, anxiety, and mental health. Mr. Pancholy is best known for his roles on hit TV series, including 30 Rock, Weeds, Whitney, and Sanjay and Craig.

More information and registration to the event can be found here.
