WEST PALM BEACH – At times struggling to maintain his composure, the father of Seth Adams on Thursday told a federal jury about the horror of learning his 24-year-old son had been shot and killed by Palm Beach County sheriff’s Sgt. Michael Custer and the indignities he, his wife and their surviving son suffered as they tried to deal with their grief.
Richard Adams also told the jury — that is deciding the multi-million-dollar lawsuit he and his wife filed against Custer and the sheriff’s office — not to believe the platitude that time heals all wounds.
“That’s a fallacy. I can tell you right now,” he said. “It’s like every day is a bitter reminder. It grows. It doesn’t get smaller. You’re suppose to be a parent for life. I’ll never hug my son again. I’ve been robbed. I’ve been cheated.”
