A recall has been issued for approximately 87,060 Prius vehicles manufactured March 31, 2009 through October 9, 2009; and Lexus HS250h vehicles manufactured June 19, 2009 through October 9, 2009. The recall is due to an auto defect that can cause nitrogen gas from a component of the brake booster pump assembly to leak into the brake fluid. As nitrogen is released into the brake fluid, the brake pedal may have reduced hydraulic pressure which can affect stopping distance and increase the risk of a motor vehicle accident.

This recall is expected to begin sometime in late July 2013. Dealers will inspect the vehicle and perform the necessary service free of charge.  Owners may contact Toyota directly at 1-800-331-4331. Additional details can also be found by referencing NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 13V235000.

Owners are encouraged to contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or go to www.safercar.gov with any questions or concerns surrounding these or any other recalls or safety campaigns.
