A recall has been issued for 119,140 Toyota Avalon vehicles manufactured June 5, 2002 through December 20, 2004.  Certain 2003-2004 vehicles may contain an air bag defect that can cause an inadvertent deployment of the front air bags and/or seat belt pretensioners.  In the event this occurs, vehicles occupants are at serious risk of catastrophic and/or secondary injuries.

The recall schedule has not been set, but once determined; dealers will inspect the vehicle and perform the necessary service free of charge.  Owners may contact Toyota directly at 1-800-331-433.  Additional details can also be found by referencing NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 14V147000.
