A recall has been issued for approximately 120,426 General Motor vehicles for failure to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 108 regarding "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment." Certain 2011-2013 Buick Regal and 2013 Chevrolet Malibu vehicles may contain an auto defect that fails to alert the driver if a turn signal bulb burns out.  If the driver is not aware that a turn signal is not illuminated and continues to operate the vehicle, other motorists have no indication that the affected vehicle is turning, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall was scheduled to begin sometime in August 2014.  Dealers will inspect the vehicle and perform the necessary service free of charge.  Owners may contact Buick at 1-800-521-7300 or Chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020, and reference safety recall no. 12212.  Additional details can also be found by referencing NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 12V484000.

Owners are encouraged to contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or go to www.safercar.gov with any questions or concerns surrounding these or any other recalls or safety campaigns.
