General Motors has issued a recall of approximately 26,582 vehicles for failure to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 102 regarding “"Transmission Shift Lever Sequence, Starter Interlock, and Transmission Braking Effect." The recall class is comprised of certain 2013 Buick LaCrosse and 2013 Cadillac SRX vehicles.  A software problem may cause the transmission to inadvertently shift to Sport mode removing any transmission-related engine braking effect. If engine braking is unexpectedly removed, it may increase the risk of a vehicle crash.

This recall is expected to begin on or around March 28, 2013.  Dealers have agreed to inspect the vehicle and perform the necessary service free of charge. Owners may contact Cadillac 1-866-982-2339 or Buick 1-866-694-6546. Additional details can also be found by referencing NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 13V097000.
Owners are encouraged to contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or go to www.safercar.gov with any questions or concerns surrounding these or any other recalls or safety campaigns.
