Ford has issued a recall of approximately 3,037 vehicles due to a fuel tank defect. The recall class is comprised of the following vehicles: 2012 Taurus, Lincoln MKS and 2013 Explorer vehicles manufactured July 19, 2011 through March 15, 2012. The fuel tanks in certain vehicles may have a marginally sealed seam that may leak and not provide the protection required to withstand impact. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fuel fed fire and catastrophic injury to occupants.

This recall is expected to begin on April 22, 2013. Dealers have agreed to inspect the vehicle and perform the necessary service free of charge. Owners may contact Ford directly at 1-866-436-7332 and reference safety recall No. 13S03. Additional details can also be found by referencing NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 13V109000.
