A recall has been issued for approximately 8,513 Couragia A/T tires for failure to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 139 regarding "New Pneumatic Radial Tires for Light Vehicles." Excessive heat may cause tread shoulder chunking in certain tires (size P265/75R16 116S, DOT Serial Numbers UX77 3210-UX770813). Tire defects resulting in a tread separation can significantly increase the risk of crash and personal injury to vehicle occupants.

This recall is expected to begin at the end of April 2013. Dealers will inspect the tires and provide replacement tires free of charge. Owners may contact Federal Tires directly at 1-855-444-8250. Additional details can also be found by referencing NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 13T003000.

Owners are encouraged to contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or go to www.safercar.gov with any questions or concerns surrounding these or any other recalls or safety campaigns.
