A recall has been issued of approximately 254,396 Jeep Compass and Patriot vehicles manufactured May 6, 2008 through July 20, 2012.  Certain 2010-2012 vehicles are included in the recall class.  The recall is due to a manufacturing defect which may result in a delayed deployment or non-deployment of the seatbelt pre-tensioners and/or side air bags. In the event of a rollover necessitating air bag deployment, the air bag defect can result in significant secondary injuries to vehicle occupants.

This recall is expected to begin sometime in July 2013. Dealers will inspect the vehicle and perform the necessary service free of charge.  Owners may contact Chrysler directly at 1-800-247-9753 and reference safety recall no. N01. Additional details can also be found by referencing NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 13V233000.
