A recall has been issued for approximately 42,696 Chevrolet Malibu vehicles for failure to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 103 regarding "Windshield Defrosting and Defogging Systems." The heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) control in certain 2014 vehicles may intermittently become inoperable when the vehicle is started, preventing the windshield defroster from working. The inability to turn on the windshield defroster may decrease the driver's visibility thereby increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall was expected to begin on December 6, 2013.  Dealers will inspect the vehicle and perform the necessary service free of charge.  Owners may contact General Motors directly at 1-800-521-7300 and reference safety recall no. 13380.  Additional details can also be found by referencing NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 13V567000.

Owners are encouraged to contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or go to with any questions or concerns surrounding these or any other recalls or safety campaigns.
