WHAT: Community event promoting booster seats, child passenger safety and the urgent need to protect Florida’s children by enacting HB 3/SB 66.
WHEN: Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 10:00 A.M.
WHERE: Saint John Missionary Baptist Church, 900 N. Seacrest Blvd, Boynton Beach, FL 33435
Leopold Law, P.A. in partnership with Safe Kids Palm Beach County and Bridges at Boynton Beach, will be offering free booster seats to 75 children who have outgrown their child safety seat.
Rep. Irv Slosberg will be in attendance to address community members and educate voters on the urgent need to pass a booster seat law in Florida. Florida remains one of two states that has not passed lifesaving legislation and currently has the weakest child passenger safety law in the nation.
Children outgrow most car seats at 40 lbs., and it is not safe for them to use an adult seat belt until they reach 4’9” tall usually between the ages of 8-12. Booster seats ensure that adult seatbelts fit a child correctly, securing the strongest parts of a child’s body, the bony pelvis and ribcage instead of the abdomen, spine, and neck. Booster Seats reduce injury by 45% compared to a seat belt alone.
