Cohen Milstein Sellers & Toll PLLC is currently accepting applications for an Investigator to assist in its Securities Litigation & Investor Protection practice, and possibly assist in investigative assignments in a few other practice areas.

For over 45 years, we have fought corporate misconduct, pursuing litigation on behalf of individuals, whistleblowers, public entities and other institutions in cases that have raised significant and often novel issues to advance the public good.
The Investigator is to work independently with certain practice groups at Cohen Milstein Sellers & Toll PLLC ("CMST") with an emphasis on securities fraud litigation to develop methods to identify and obtain evidence to support CMST's litigation efforts, analyze information obtained through investigative means, and make recommendations to CMST regarding litigation matters to pursue. The Investigator will work closely with decision makers in various CMST departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement and support investigative solutions for all aspects of the organization.
Assist the Firm in developing evidence to support cases it brings. This will include:
- Interviews by phone or in person with witnesses likely to have knowledge of important evidence; likely will include talking to former employees of a company, suppliers, customers, and competitors;
- Conduct background searches related to potential witnesses or individuals or corporate defendants;
- Gather data and other documents that may be relevant to a case;
- Identify and locate potential fact witnesses likely to have relevant information relating to a case.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or equivalent professional experience related to conducting interviews, directing investigations, consulting and litigation support. Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and/or working knowledge of law firm environments and complex litigation management and support is preferred.
Minimum three years related work experience, demonstrating a strong knowledge of systems and methods to conduct investigations in a law firm environment, current research methodology, interviewing techniques, and providing counsel to law firms.
Must possess a valid private investigator’s license.
Must possess strong analytical skills and effective interpersonal and communication skills and be diligent at interacting with a wide range of people internal and external to CMST. Ability to synthesize large quantities of information and provide valued counsel and recommendations in a timely, and many times expedited, manner is valued.
A combination of education, training and/or experience that fulfills the requirements of the position will also be considered.
