Specifically, Plaintiffs in the lawsuit allege that the methods that AT&T uses to calculate retirees' pension benefits violate the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and result in retirees receiving lower pension benefits than they are entitled to under the law. For Plan participants that choose a Joint and Survivor Annuity (JSA), the alleged violations of ERISA also impact the amount of the annuity paid to the survivor.
