A lawsuit was filed Thursday against a D.C. Medicaid contractor that operates in 28 states nationwide, alleging that the contractor was systematically underpaying hundreds of employees who help Medicaid participants access medical services.

The lawsuit claims that Medical Transportation Management, Inc. (MTM) has been paying nonemergency medical transportation drivers less than what is required by D.C. and federal laws.

Drivers have been paid less than the federally mandated minimum wage and below the living wage scale required by D.C. law, the suit claims according to a statement released by Public Citizen Foundation.
