Cohen Milstein's Miriam Nemeth Speaks at the the ABA’s National Symposium on Technology in Labor and Employment Law
April 07, 2017
Ms. Nemeth will participate on a panel entitled “Workplace Automation: Innovation or Job Killer?”
Technology and automation have made significant changes to the workplace. Geobased time-tracking, email auditing software, and cloud-based scheduling applications have made it easier to keep track of and properly pay employees for their work. But will there be employees to keep track of in the future? Will the automation and technology that makes workers’ jobs easier lead to their obsolescence? The panel will discuss the cutting edge technologies used to schedule, track and pay employees, as well as the automation tools on the precipice of taking over their jobs entirely. It will focus on the intersection of these technologies with current wage and hour laws, as well as possible future reforms in the law.
