Associate (Civil Rights & Employment)

Cohen Milstein’s Washington, DC office has an opening for an associate in the Civil Rights and Employment practice group, which works to protect the rights of victims of civil rights and workplace law violations.  We are looking for a candidate with one to three years of litigation experience, strong writing and analytical skills, and preferably some knowledge of Title VII, the Fair Housing Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, or other civil rights laws.  This position requires a commitment to civil rights work, a team-player attitude, and the ability to travel.

Associate (Public Client)

Cohen Milstein Sellers & Toll PLLC is accepting applications for a junior Litigation Associate in the Public Client Practice.
 
The Public Client Practice offers a unique opportunity to do public-sector work in a private-sector setting.  We exclusively represent government entities as outside counsel in high-stakes cases.  State Attorneys General comprise our largest client base, though we also represent other government entities.  Our government work focuses on civil enforcement investigations and litigation, most commonly in consumer fraud and false claims cases involving the financial, mortgage, pharmaceutical, and education industries.  This position is an ideal match for a litigator with a passion for public service. 
 
Applicants should have 3-4 years of litigation experience at a law firm or in federal, state, or local government.  Applicants must be able to: take a lead role in researching and writing briefs; play a strong supporting role in discovery; and supervise paralegals in litigation-related tasks. A strong academic background with excellent writing skills is required. Clerkship experience is also a plus.

Staff Attorney (Antitrust)

Cohen Milstein seeks a Staff Attorney to work for the Antitrust Practice Group in the Washington, DC office.  Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, reviewing documents; factual research for existing cases and for investigations; and assisting with other discovery tasks, including responding to discovery requests and deposition preparation.

Requirements:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in DC
  • Litigation experience required; Antitrust experience strongly preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required to handle large volumes of documents and work associated with each case
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Good analytic skills to synthesize large amounts of information into accurate summaries
  • The ability to work independently
